Starting around 4:00 pm on Saturday September 15, BitPay.com came under a very large denial-of-service attack, consisting of DNS amplification, syn floods and HTTP level flooding.
Cloudflare (our DDOS protection service) published an article, How to Launch a 65Gbps DDoS, and How to Stop One, on their blog, to show the magnitude of the attack.
At no time were any of our servers or databases compromised, and all funds are secure. Our website and payment systems are working.
We have strong protection against DDOS attacks; if you are using our API, please ensure your server is setup to use our new API key authentication, replacing the client SSL. If you are a merchant and are using one of our shopping cart plugins (Magento, WHMCS, Zen Cart, Opencart) please download the latest plugin from our site.
