Bitcoin Comes to Online Multiplayer Gaming Giant Wargaming

Gaming has been one of bitcoin's most promising markets, as we've seen from a year of working with merchants and technology partners in the space. Today we're happy to announce the addition of one the most prominent names in online gaming: Wargaming.net.

Wargaming is the creator of 15 titles in strategy-based massively-multiplayer online (MMO) gaming, including World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes. The company's games are all free to play, and players can customize their gaming with new weapons and vehicles. Now players in the United States can use bitcoin to get the virtual gold that serves as Wargaming's currency for in-game power-ups in World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes.

With bitcoin, Wargaming is taking a new step to reach the growing base of users playing its MMO games in the United States. As a native digital top-up method, bitcoin will give Wargaming's customers an alternative to filling out credit card forms and a simpler, faster way to get the virtual gold they need.

Our integration with Wargaming is also one of the first to make Payment Protocol wallets the default way to pay invoices. Customers using Payment Protocol wallets to add to their virtual gold holdings can send bitcoin to a Wargaming bitcoin invoice more securely and broadcast their transactions to the Bitcoin network in less time. Customers can still check out with any bitcoin wallet, but Wargaming's integration collects a return address in advance in case there are any transaction issues. This reduces the need for back and forth between customers and Wargaming's support team.

We're excited to help bring bitcoin to Wargaming's players. Bitcoin is built for online experiences like gaming, and we're committed to helping companies like Wargaming use this technology make those experiences more seamless, secure, and fun for users.
