Bitcoin Cash Support Comes Out of Beta for the BitPay and Copay Wallets

Two weeks ago we launched beta support for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in our Copay wallet. Last week we also released a version of our Insight block explorer for the Bitcoin Cash network. Now we're taking another step to answer user demand for Bitcoin Cash.

As of BitPay and Copay app release version 3.8.2, Bitcoin Cash support is now available in all wallets. Our beta testers gave us some great feedback which has allowed us to release this additional support out of beta.

Enabling Bitcoin Cash support in this new release is easy. Just go to your wallet settings and select "Bitcoin Cash Support." Then create a new 1-of-1 or multi-signature shared wallet with "BCH" selected as your network of choice.

If you had a Bitcoin (BTC) balance in your wallet before the August 1st Bitcoin Cash hard fork, you already have a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) balance. Your wallet private keys correspond to a BCH balance equivalent to the BTC balance you had at the time of the August 1st hard fork.

As long as you still have access to your pre-August 1st BTC wallets, it's easy to get your BCH balances using our wallet funds scanner. Just select "Scan your wallets for Bitcoin Cash" to get started.
